Greetings from Founder

Dear Friends,

It is with great pleasure and gratitude that I introduce the latest edition of the PLANT website, "On the occasion of Silver Jubilee Celebration." This website encapsulates the journey, achievements, and milestones of PLANT over the past twenty five years. As we reflect on our successes, it is essential to acknowledge the invaluable support and contributions from various stakeholders who have been instrumental in our endeavors.

First and foremost, I extend my deepest gratitude to the Almighty for blessing us with the resources, wisdom, and resilience to carry out sustainable development projects across India successfully. Additionally, I express sincere appreciation to our partners, including the Madras Atomic Power Station of Nuclear Corporation of India, Central Government of India, State Governments of Tamil Nadu, partner agencies, international funding bodies such as UNDP GEF SGP, Consulate General of Australia, Chennai, Welthungerhilfe, Germany, Corporates such as Birla Carbon Private Limited, Chennai Water Desalination Limited, philanthropists, individuals, like-minded organizations such as Earthwatch Institute India, World Resource Centre and volunteers. Your unwavering support has been pivotal in realizing our mission of biodiversity conservation, women and child development, sustainable livelihoods for marginalized communities, and research initiatives.

One of our significant achievements lies in the realm of child development, where we have provided underprivileged children with quality education and a safe, nurturing environment at PLANT Children's Home. Witnessing their transformation into responsible individuals fills us with immense pride and reaffirms our commitment to nurturing future leaders.

At PLANT, our core areas of focus encompass biodiversity conservation, sustainable natural resource management, innovation, advocacy for marginalized communities, and research and policy advocacy. Embracing a paradigm shift from charity to development self-help approach, we empower communities to take ownership of their development journey, thereby fostering social change.

We pride ourselves on our contemporary approach, integrating cutting-edge technologies, innovation, and skill development into all our interventions. Our efforts have been recognized on a global scale, culminating in PLANT obtaining consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations in 2021 and United Nations Environment Programmes in 2023, a testament to our commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. Looking ahead, PLANT is poised to embark on a series of programs aimed at furthering our mission. I invite each one of you to engage with us through our website and participate in these initiatives. Your continued support and collaboration are indispensable as we strive towards a more equitable and sustainable future.

Thank you for being part of our journey.

Warm regards,

Dr.R.T.John Suresh
