Blended Learning Course

The International Blended Learning Course on "The International Regime for Access and Benefit Sharing and Intellectual Property" organized jointly by the United Nations University (UNU), GTZ, BMZ, and FRLHT was hosted in Chennai, with PLANT serving as the host organization. The course aimed to provide participants from Asian and European countries with comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the international frameworks governing access and benefit sharing (ABS) and intellectual property rights (IPR).

The face-to-face segments of the course took place from November 25th to 29th, 2013, in Chennai. PLANT played a crucial role as a local facilitating and event management agency, ensuring the smooth execution of the program.

The participants benefitted from interactive sessions, lectures, and discussions led by experts in the field of ABS and IPR. PLANT's founder also participated as one of the attendees, gaining valuable insights and knowledge during the training.

Following the course, PLANT organized a series of ABS and IPR training sessions for various stakeholders, leveraging the expertise and experience gained from the international program. These training sessions aimed to raise awareness, build capacity, and foster collaboration among stakeholders to effectively conserve coastal biodiversity and ensure equitable sharing of benefits.

Overall, the International Blended Learning Course served as a platform for knowledge exchange and capacity building, empowering participants to address challenges related to ABS and IPR in the context of biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. Through PLANT's continued efforts, the learnings from the course were disseminated to a wider audience, contributing to enhanced understanding and action in the field of environmental governance.
