International Day of Biodiversity

On the eve of the International Day of Biodiversity, PLANT organized awareness campaigns and exhibitions to highlight the importance of biodiversity conservation and showcase ongoing projects aimed at promoting environmental sustainability.

A key highlight of the event was a demonstration to the Vice President of India, Hon’ble Shri. Vengaiah Naidu, showcasing the Artificial Reef Project in Chennai. This innovative initiative enhances marine biodiversity and supports sustainable fisheries management.

During the demonstration, PLANT representatives presented the objectives and positive outcomes of the Artificial Reef Project, focusing on its role in restoring marine habitats, counteracting overfishing, and mitigating habitat degradation. The Vice President was briefed on the environmental and social benefits of the project for coastal communities.

PLANT’s awareness exhibitions included interactive exhibits, educational presentations, and printed materials, helping participants understand biodiversity's importance and how they can contribute to conservation efforts.

These events emphasized knowledge-sharing, stakeholder engagement, and political advocacy. They helped amplify the importance of biodiversity protection and demonstrated the impact of collaborative efforts in achieving environmental sustainability.

PLANT’s participation in both national and international exhibitions on special observance days such as International Biodiversity Day, World Environment Day, and World Wildlife Day has allowed it to share success stories and promote best practices in coastal biodiversity conservation.

Through engaging exhibits, presentations, and meaningful dialogue, PLANT continues to build public awareness and forge partnerships. These events not only celebrate conservation milestones but also help attract support, resources, and collaboration for future sustainability efforts.

"Biodiversity is the foundation of life. Protecting it is not a choice, it is a responsibility we all share—for people and the planet."
