End-Term Evaluation Team Visits Artificial Reef Project Sites at Rameshwaram

The End-Term Evaluation Team, along with external auditor Dr. Neelima Jerath and Ms. Asha from TERI, New Delhi, visited Karaiyur and Serankottai villages in Rameshwaram on 3 May 2026 to assess the ecological and social impacts of the artificial reef deployment initiative implemented by PLANT Trust.
The project is supported under the MoEF&CC–UNDP–GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP) OP7. During the field visit, the team interacted with beneficiary communities and fishermen groups to understand the outcomes of the project on marine biodiversity conservation, sustainable fisheries, and coastal livelihoods.
The visit provided valuable insights, field observations, and new research information from the local beneficiaries regarding the effectiveness of the artificial reef interventions. The evaluation mission was highly fruitful and highlighted the positive community engagement and emerging ecological benefits of the project.
